Hi, my name is Jim Hood, and my wife Beth and I are small business owners, homeschooling parents, and rookie homesteaders. We recently moved to Arkansas after living on the Big Island of Hawaii for over 18 years.
I grew up in northwestern Illinois, but after college I moved to Seattle to build low income houses with Habitat for Humanity through Americorps, which is where I met my wife, Beth. After that experience, we ended up staying in the area a few more years to work at a local church.
In our late 20’s, Beth and I decided we needed a bit of adventure, so we sold all of our stuff and moved sight unseen to the Big Island of Hawaii to work on a goat farm for 6 months. For obvious reasons, we fell in love with Hawaii and ended up staying there for 18 amazing years.
While there, Beth and I started a successful IT support and web design company, became authors and speakers, wrote four books, and created an online course for high school and college students designed to help them navigate the path from school to career without getting buried in student loan debt. This eventually led us to starting a financial services consulting company so we could help families rapidly eliminate debt, build wealth, and plan for retirement.
After spending almost 2 decades in Hawaii, we heard the call for adventure again, but this time it was coupled with a desire to be closer to our families on the mainland. So we packed up everything and moved back to the mainland, establishing a new home in the beautiful Ozarks of Northwestern Arkansas.
I am absolutely passionate about helping families become financially free. So, when I’m not homeschooling my daughter or taking care of our homestead, I spend my days creating financial plans my clients use to pay off their homes and all of their debts in a fraction of the time, while simultaneously building up tax-advantaged retirement nest eggs.
